A founder group you will not mute

Most startup WhatsApp groups die the same way: a few hundred members, unchecked promotion, forwarded links, and cold pitches in everyone's DMs. EA's community is moderated on purpose. Promotions are gated, introductions are made directly, and the people in it were screened the same way the rooms are.

What you get out of it

A group is only worth the notifications it costs you. Here is the trade.

First look at every room

New mixers open to the community before they are listed publicly. Seats in the smaller rooms usually go at that stage.

Introductions that are actually made

Ask for a specific kind of person and a moderator connects you to them directly, rather than broadcasting your request to everyone and hoping.

Peers at your stage, not an audience

Founders, investors and operators from the same screened pool as the mixers, so a question about pricing, hiring or a term sheet gets answered by someone who has done it.

A place to keep the conversation going

The useful part of a mixer is usually the follow-up. The group is where the conversation from Thursday evening continues on Monday.

The house rules

Published, so nobody has to discover one by breaking it. Moderation is what keeps the group worth being in.

  1. Promotions are gated

Launches, hiring posts and product news go through the moderators and into the slot kept for them. They are not banned. They are scheduled.

  2. No mass-forwards

Forwarded chains, event spam from elsewhere and link drops are removed. If it was not written for this group, it does not belong in it.

  3. No cold pitching members

Membership is not a lead list. Pitching someone in DMs because you found them here is the fastest way out of the group.

  4. Ask specifically, answer generously

A precise ask gets a useful answer. The group works because people reply to each other, not because it is large.

  5. What is said here stays here

Numbers, term sheets and war stories shared in the group are shared in confidence, exactly as they would be in the room.

How you get in

There is no open join link. Entry is requested and reviewed, the same way the rooms are.

  1. 01

    Request an invite

WhatsApp the team or send the form below with who you are and what you are building. There is no open join link on purpose.

  2. 02

    Quick review

We check the same thing the mixers check: that you are actively building or investing, and that the group is useful to you and you to it.

  3. 03

    You are added

You get the group, the house rules, and first sight of mixers before they are listed publicly.

From people in the group

The only startup group they have not muted.

Met some really nice entrepreneurs in the community. These folks have kept in touch and are extending help or encouraging messages. It’s also motivating to see other entrepreneurs in a similar stage achieving their short-term and long-term goals!
